Overstay

Immigration Control and Refugee Recognision Act. stipulates that any overstayer may be put into custody, deported from Japan and will be rejected to reenter Japan for at least 5 years after the date of deportation.On the other hand, the new residency management system encourages foreign nationals who concern about their illegal stay to appear voluntarirly at a regional immigration bureau by creating "Departure Order System" and "Special Permission to Stay in Japan".

Residence Card

A residence card , so-called "Zairyu-Card, is issued to mid-term and long-term residents by the new residency management system. A residence card contains a portrait photo of the foreign national, basic personal information such as the name, resident status, period of stay and so on.From July 10, 2012, by abolition of the Ailen Resitration Act., alien resistration cards are no longer issued to foreign nationals who newly reside in Japan. Current ailen resitration cards will be alternatively considered as a resident card until July 8, 2015 or when the current visa expires, which comes first, and will be replaced with a resident card.
Foreign residents must appear at Regional Immigration Bureaus to apply for a resident card. If a applicant require to be exempted from appearing at the bureaus, Gyouseishoshi can do it by proxy.

Family Stays -Dependent Visa-

A Hasband, Wife, Children or Adopted Children of a Resident
・Resident stands for persons who has a valid status of residence.
・The visa applicant must be dependent of the resident.
・Working is not allowed.

Term of Residence---5 years, 4 years and 3 months, 4 years, 3 years and 3 months, 3 years, 2years and 3 months, 2 years, 1 year and 3 months, 1 year, 6 months or 3 months.
